Haydock Park Golf Club

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Update

19th March 2020

Afternoon all,

We hope you are all well and thought we would furnish you with details of another update from the Club.

We continue to be open both on the course and in the clubhouse. The kitchen has been closed these last couple of days, but at present we plan to be back operational by Saturday. We have added a couple of more measures to help ensure as safe an environment as possible for you, these steps now include:

In the Clubhouse:

  • Showers are now out of order and not to be used
  • Tables have been moved further apart and we advise utilising all rooms within the clubhouse whilst sitting at least a metre apart from other members
  • Half hourly cleaning and checks undertaken
  • Staff temperatures being taken on arrival to the workplace
  • Doors being left ajar

On the Course:

  • Don't use the ball washes
  • Rakes have been brought in, please rake as best as you can with your feet
  • Keep your distance from your playing partners, refrain from shaking hands or embracing at the end of your game
  • Leave the flag in at all times
  • Hole cups have been turned upside down so you can still hole out and easily pick your ball out of the top of the cup - for social play we do advise on playing gimmies
  • Avoid using the shoe cleaners - these have been marked out or order
  • Cards - one person to collect your cards for the whole group
  • Don't pick up other golf balls
  • We encourage you to retrieve your clubs from your lockers (if you have one) and change in the car park
  • Smile - you're out in the fresh air playing that infuriating game that we all love to hate! :)

As a note to all golfers. Please remember everyone in the golfing community. Some will be in self-isolation, some may not be visiting the club and some may have underlying health issues. At this difficult time, please take a moment to keep in regular contact with friends and companions in the golfing community, or even someone you might not have spoken to for some time. Let's do what we can to reduce loneliness amongst us and keep spirits up. Small things can make a big difference. Thank you.

We will endeavour to do our bit for those being advised to self-isolate. If there is enough interest the Club will look to offer a doorstep delivery service. This could offer a whole range of fresh and frozen foods and home essentials that we can provide through our corporate suppliers direct to your doorstep. If you are might be interested in this service or know another member who would be then please contact us in the office either via email: or by telephone 01925 228525, option 3 and we can look to set this up for you.

With regards to the membership renewal we have had many calls and emails from worried members and appreciate these unprecedented times mean anxiety and confusion for many of you.

Rest assured that whatever happens, your membership and the fees paid will be honoured in full. Whether that is through rebate off of next year's fees or whatever the best solution will be to ensure you are not out of pocket. In these difficult times the Club needs your support more than ever to remain open during and after this critical time passes.

The Board are actively monitoring the situation and we will continue to inform you of updates as and when we get them.

Thank you to all the members that have sent in some kind, encouraging feedback regarding what we are doing and how we are handling this. We really do appreciate it. Once again, thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation during this time of uncertainty. We will get through this together!

Thank you and stay safe out there.

Best wishes,

Stephen Nicholson
