Local Winter Rules 2020-2021
Fairway Protection Policy
When the status of the course is Green we would ask all golfers to please use a fairway mat, but this is not compulsory or take their ball to the first cut of rough (nearest point)
When the status of the course is either Amber or Red the following rule will be in force: A ball lying on the Fairway or “closely mown area” can be lifted, cleaned and placed on a fairway mat within 6” (not nearer the hole) of its original position unless a putter is being used for the next shot. If a player does not want to use a fairway mat then the ball can be lifted and cleaned but then must be placed in the first cut of rough at the nearest point to where the ball was on the fairway.
Play from Inside the green staked/roped areas
If a player’s ball is in between the green staked/roped line and the green they may play the ball as it lies and do not need to use a fairway mat or move the ball to the first cut of rough.
In the Rough and Plugged Balls
Preferred Lies are now in operation on all closely mown areas and in the rough A ball in the rough may be lifted, cleaned and “placed” without penalty within 6” of its original place but NOT nearer the hole, the ball must be marked before it is lifted. The use of fairway mats is not allowed in the rough. Exception: A player may not obtain relief under this Local Rule if the ball is clearly in an unplayable position.
Relief in Bunkers
If you are in a bunker you may without penalty mark your ball, lift and clean it, rake the area and then replace it within 6” of original position but no nearer the hole.
Temporary Greens
Temporary Greens are ALL Ground Under Repair and players must take full relief no nearer to the hole.
