Captain's Charity 2018 announced

Our Captain has chosen to support 2 charities in 2018 firstly The Lilac Centre at St Helens Hospital who treated his wife Christine who passed away in 2015 after a brave battle with Hodkinson Lymphoma. He said “I cannot thank the Lilac Centre and Macmillan Nurses who work at the Centre enough, making what is a very testing time for patients and their families as comfortable and stress free as possible”

The Lilac Centre is a haematology and oncology day unit based at St Helens Hospital. The Centre is predominately a chemotherapy unit, however they also provide treatment/care for these patients that require other intravenous infusions or supportive therapies such as blood and platelet transfusions.

They have achieved Macmillan Cancer Support Quality Environmental mark awareness, the first chemotherapy unit nationally to reeve this prestigious award aiming to improve the wellbeing of people living with cancer.

The centre offers holistic therapies to support patients and carers this includes counselling support and complementary therapies such as reiki, aromatherapy, reflexology and hot stone therapy

Secondly we are supporting the North West Air Ambulance which Lester has personal experience of after seriously breaking his ankle after slipping on the course and having to be flown to hospital for emergency treatment.
