The signature hole of the course is undoubtedly this one which is also the stroke 1 hole. Usually playing into the wind this hole plays all it length and a good long drive down the left centre leaves a long second shot into a sloping green guarded by two bunkers at the front. Any drive to the right is completely blocked out by a large stand of trees and leaves a chip to the corner of the dogleg which is very well guarded by some large grassy humps on both sides of the fairway. A deep fairway bunker 50 yards from the green catches and offline approach shots and a five on here is always acceptable with a par being a real bonus.
